Arturo Melendez

Peruvian Culinary Director

Hailing from Peru, Chef Arturo’s love of cooking began early when he spent his days with his Grandmother helping her around the kitchen. With a passion for the complexities and multiculturalism of Peruvian cuisine, Arturo was eager to bring the country’s unique recipes, flavours and culture to the world.

His travels have brought Arturo to South Africa, Hong Hong, Singapore and finally back to Hong Kong where he has helmed the kitchen at TokyoLima since March 2017. In 2019, he was made Peruvian Culinary Director at Pirata Group and has since implemented a new dynamic menu at Chifa. Arturo respects the traditional techniques and history behind each recipe, adding his own personal flair for food that is unforgettable.

Manuel Meza

Head Chef

Behind the kitchen at Chifa is young Head Chef Manuel Meza. You’ll find him in the open kitchen with an Aji chili in one hand, and a choclo corn in the other. Manuel is greatly inspired by his mother’s wholesome home-style Peruvian cooking and has honed in on using traditional cooking techniques. After building a strong foundation at Instituto Discovery culinary school in Lima, Manuel continued to develop his skills in gastronomy and hotel management at Le Cordon Bleu in Peru.

A keen explorer, Manuel’s desire for adventure led him to travel the world and experience many different cuisines while working at numerous restaurants. Most notably, at Astrid & Gaston Casa Moreyra which was ranked 18th in “The 50 Best Restaurants of the World”. Born and raised in Peru with over 10 years of experience under his belt, Manuel brings his deep understanding of Chifa cuisine and Peruvian techniques to Hong Kong. Erik Kirakozov

Restaurant Manager

Whether it’s his knowledge of food and wine, or his personable way with guests, Erik Kirakozov’s contributions to Pirata Group, previously at TokyoLima and now at Chifa, continue to impress. A natural leader and mentor, Erik frequently shares his industry insights with his colleagues, and is first to tackle the challenges in Hong Kong’ fast-paced restaurant scene.

With a passion for the Food & Beverage industry, Erik is generous with his knowledge of food and wine making astute recommendations to our guests. In 2010, he underwent wine and spirits training through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in Valencia and received qualification for Level 1 and Level 2.

With past experience in managing outlets such as Gallery Restaurant & Bar in Valencia, Spain, Erik works hand-in-hand with his team at Chifa to provide guests with an unforgettable dining experience.
